The Law of Feedback Loops (a work in progress...)
The following is an explanation of how Feedback Loops (explained below) work in our lives to determine the results we receive. Understanding how this works is not required in order for it to work for you. I've included it to explain some of the statements that may or may not seems foreign to you, and as a counter-theory to the over-simplified "like attracts like" explanation for the Law of Attraction. Nowhere is the natural world do we see an example of "like attracting like". The Law of Feedback Loops is, however, well documented as a physical reality.
I've also included my prescription for effectively using the Law of Feedback Loops to get what we want instead of simply being victims of this Law.
As you follow along, you will see that "unconscious thoughts" are the gateway to putting the Law of Feedback Loops to work for us. Everything else - including our conscious thoughts, actions and words - is a result of, and also an influence on our unconscious thoughts. Therefore our thoughts, actions and words are the things we must work on first.
We all engage in thought and behavior patterns that don't serve us . . . but we have a choice. We may not be able to immediately change our unconscious thoughts, but we have control over our action, words and conscious thoughts. And the ease over which we have this control is in that order (actions are the easiest, then words, then conscious thoughts).
For example, let's say you have a habit of slamming doors in your house when you get in a fight with your partner. Once you make a firm decision to stop doing this, it's a relatively simple thing to actually stop doing. However, you may find it slightly more difficult to stop saying things you don't mean in the same fight, and even more difficult to stop thinking things you don't feel - even if you don't say them out loud. But you do still have a choice to not blurt out the angry words that pop into your head, and you can stop saying them. Once you start controlling your words, your conscious thoughts will follow and over time you'll stop thinking things you don't feel. And through this process you will work your way back to you unconscious thoughts. Unconscious thoughts are only accessible unconsciously or through conscious "thought seeds". Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that we control the food we feed our conscious and unconscious minds. This food is the various "inputs" our minds receive on a daily basis.
The input we have a choice about feeding to our minds includes:
- Our Food
- The Media We Choose
- The Arts we pursue
- Our Actions
- Our Words
- Our Thoughts
- Our Exercise Habits
- Our Meditation
- Our Environment
Some of these Input categories also make up our environment. This makes our environment both an input and an output (since it is a product of other inputs) which creates a Feedback Loop.
"Feedback Loops" Defined: A Feedback Loop occurs in a system when the output signal is included in the input signal. Because of this the two signals are mixed together, and since they are the same they are therefore added together. Each cycle creates another addition of the input signal to itself. And since it's a loop it continues forever adding itself to itself infinitely. This causes the output to get progressively stronger and stronger. Depending on whether the initial input is positive or negative the effect will begin to radiate out and effect other systems near by in a positive way, or result in damage to systems near by and the system itself.
For example, in the case of a microphone that's pointed at the speaker system playing the sounds the microphone picks up, the sound coming out gets louder and louder and ultimately produces a sonic force capable of injuring your ears and damaging the speakers. The same thing happens in our lives...
Our thoughts, words and actions make up a part of our environment, and since our environment influences our thoughts and thereby our words and ultimately our actions this also becomes a Feedback Loop.
If we feed our mind rotten food it in turn produces wild animals. When we're constantly saying and doing things that don't serve us, our conscious thoughts become negative. We begin choosing to think negative things (indulging in misery or self-pity for example). But our conscious thoughts also influence our unconscious thoughts. And both our conscious and unconscious thoughts influence our further conscious and unconscious thoughts and ultimately our words and actions. Then these conscious thoughts, words and actions become part of our daily environment, which as we've already seen influences our conscious and unconscious thoughts. Thus creating the infinite loop that is a Feedback Loop. The rotten food produces wild animals, and then we feed them more rotten food. This makes them angrier and angrier until they get out of control and start doing damage to us and the people around us.
Our food, the media we are exposed to, exercise, art and meditation also make up a part of our environment. And, as we know, our environment influences our unconscious mind, which in turn influences the choices we make about what we eat; the kinds of media we ingest; whether we choose to exercise or not; if we pursue art; and whether we meditate. Thus another Feedback Loop is created, which we know creates a greater and greater amplification of inputs resulting in harm to self and others. These inputs form the seeds of our thoughts, which then grow into plants of there own kind, which in turn produce fruit. Good seeds produce good fruit, and bad seeds produce rotten fruit. This rotten fruit then becomes the food we feed the wild animals in our minds.
But since it is a Law of Feedback Loops that the input becomes infinitely added to itself; and since our environment and our thoughts create a Feedback Loop, then it necessarily follows that our environment and our thoughts would continue to build upon one and other creating more and more of the same. Whatever we encounter regularly, either in the internal or external world, we naturally create more of. The only way to stop the loop is to take control of the input over which we have a conscious choice.
We all have conscious and unconscious thought and behavior patterns that we engage in that do not support our true goals. And while we may not be able to immediately stop engaging in the unconscious patterns, we can choose not to engage in the conscious patterns. We can choose to: eat healthy food; do nice things; say things that reflect our true goals; expose ourselves to positive media; think good thoughts; pursue art; exercise and meditate.
We thereby take control of a part of the input portion of the feedback loop, which in turn influences the output portion, which then makes up part of our internal and external environments. And as the environment influences our unconscious patterns we slowly become able to take more control of the conscious patterns and begin replacing the unconscious patterns not supported by the new environments. We therefore, must make conscious choices about the parts of our environment over which we have a choice. Again, these include:
- Our Food
- The Media We Choose
- The Arts we pursue
- Our Actions
- Our Words
- Our Thoughts
- Our Exercise Habits
- Our Meditation
- Our Environment
The intention behind this is to finally be able to change the unconscious thought patterns, because they are what communicate our goals to the universe. And the universe takes all of our unconscious thoughts as instructions or blueprints for manifestation. It does not discriminate, because the Law of Manifestation works without prejudice. It works because it is also a Feedback Loop, and thereby governed by the Law of Feedback Loops.
The universe brings to us the parts of our environment over which we do not have an immediate choice. It does this entirely unconscious of what it's doing, and as a direct result of the fact that our external environment is also part of a Feedback Loop between our unconscious minds and the universe.
Our unconscious thoughts are waves. And since the universe is made of waves (which sometimes manifest as particles and therefore matter) our thoughts get reflected back to us in our external environment. Our thought waves radiate into the universe and get added to waves in phase with them and cancel out waves out of phase. (The preceding is predicated on another theory of thoughts as waves that I will expand on later.)
So if our predominant unconscious thought patterns are negative we will ultimately manifest a negative external environment, thus creating the ultimate Feedback Loop. Our experiences are only the echos of our thoughts infinitely added together and reflected back to us. This is what's referred to as "manifestation." It's a simple physical process that can be readily observed in our everyday world. Nothing mystical or mysterious, and it all begins with those things we have a choice about.
We must then be clear on our goals. We must develop a crystal clear picture of what we want, and stop focusing on what we don't like about what we have. Our unconscious minds take all input as direct orders for communication to the universe for manifestation. This is because the subconscious mind is both a receiver and a transmitter - it's really just a relay system. It makes no judgment about the quality of the input, it simply broadcasts it back into both Feedback Loops - both to the universe for manifestation (the external Feedback Loop) and in the form of unconscious thought and behavior patterns (the internal Feedback Loop). Both of these Feedback Loops influence our internal and our external environments, again creating the complete Feedback Loop System.
As you can see, our unconscious thoughts are the key to unlocking the potential of Feedback Loops to work for us instead of against us. The unconscious mind has the power to manifest our thoughts and to change the thoughts we think.
So by consciously choosing to change the influences we do have over the unconscious mind, we give ourselves the ability to shape our internal and external reality.
Eat healthy foods that create happy cells. The cells then broadcast their message of fulfillment to the body and the mind. This creates a feeling of health and well being, supports positive thought patterns, and makes you feel good.
Read uplifting literature, and guard against negative media in your environment. These things form the seeds of thought we plant in our minds.
Pursue art that inspires feelings of peace, wonder, joy and love. These feelings become the soil for the thought seeds we plant. Good soil grows strong plants that support each other in ecological balance, and resists the growth of weeds and other parasitic plants.
Do nice things that make you and others feel joy. Creating joy supports positive thought and behavior patterns, and also produces rich fertilizer for the soil.
Speak constructive words that support your true goals. Our words also form the seeds of thought, and constructive words product the seeds that we want - the seeds that produce good fruit.
Think good thoughts. The thoughts we consciously think are taken by the unconscious mind and communicated to the Universe, which in turn brings back external circumstances that reflect the nature of the thoughts. Thinking good thoughts naturally manifests good circumstances.
Exercise properly with the intention of supporting the body in its natural functions. Tai chi and Yoga both support the body and the mind, as well as forming a gateway to meditation.
Meditate to quiet the conscious mind. This creates space for new positive thoughts patterns to emerge from the void. Meditation also helps you find stillness, which is essential for nourishing the internal organs. Internal stillness also enables you to not become actively involved in negative thought patterns that may arise out of habit, thus allowing you to more easily shed these old ways of being.
